Fix for iPhone 4 blank black screen

So this morning everything was fine, the sun was out, the birds were singing... blah, blah, blah... life was good and then tragedy struck. For some unknown reason, Ada's iPhone 4s suddenly went blank and nothing we tried would restore it. I searched the internet and the only solution I could find was to press down on the on/off button for about 15 seconds which did nothing, after we both had our showers and got ready to go out, we went to the store where Ada's (and my iPhone) phone was purchased and spoke to a woman who worked there... she had the phone up and running in a matter of seconds by pressing the on/off switch down while simultaneously pressing down on the home button as shown in the attached image below :)

Has America gone gun crazy?

09 Mar 2013

Posted by Paul in World News & Politics

While browsing through the BBC news app on my iPhone, I came across this story...

From the BBC

8 March 2013 Last updated at 16:26 ET

South Dakota to allow armed teachers in schools

The US state of South Dakota has enacted a law allowing school districts to arm teachers and other school staff.

The law's backers say it will prevent mass school shootings like a December massacre in Connecticut that killed 26.

Amid a push by the White House to strengthen gun laws, the bill reflects a growing divide in the US over whether more or fewer guns keep people safe.

The measure does not force school districts to arm teachers and will not require teachers to carry guns.

But it allows each school district to choose if staff could be armed. It takes effect in July.

You can read the rest of the story here.

I know that I'm letting my opinion show in the title of this thread but it can't be helped. have we gone absolutely mad in this country? Why can't we let some common sense prevail over what a group of men wrote more than 200 years ago when they were still using muzzle loading weapons?

Bloomberg has soft drink law struck down

12 Mar 2013

Jennifer Peltz, The Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Eateries from corner delis to movie concession stands have gotten a last-minute reprieve from the nation's first ban on big sugary drinks. But Mayor Michael Bloomberg is urging them to shrink their cups and bottles, anyway.

Hours after a judge struck down the 16-ounce size limit for sodas and some other sweet drinks as arbitrary and outside city health regulators' purview, Bloomberg defended it as a groundbreaking anti-obesity effort and all but challenged businesses to comply out of concern for their customers.

"If you know what you're doing is harmful to people's health, common sense says if you care, you might want to stop doing that," he said.

Besides, he said, the city expects to win on appeal.

I'm not sure what to think with this, none of us like being told what we can and can't do with our bodies but the problem with obesity in the U.S. is way out of hand and it affects all of us in one way or another, not just those who mistreat themselves.

Are you glad the NYC soft drink law was struck down?
